Sorrow and Insanity in Blacksburg

I am writing about the Virginia Tech shooting over at Blogher.

My godson was accepted at the university for the fall semester. He had just gone down this weekend and was apparently so happy with the campus and excited to go right into the business school. My father said last night that they also found it "much safer than College Park." This seems so strange, to have heard those words just last night in my house.

Nowhere is really safe, which is at the same time freeing and unbearable. I just keep thinking of all of those young people, and the professors, and the staff, and all of the families and classmates affected by this. This is where words fail, and where human beings fail each other.
